Chiva and I are making wonderful new contacts in Bakersfield with people and organizations who appreciate the Tour de Dog. We are luckily staying out of the blazing sun thanks to Jerry and Pat Lasseter.
Today, Chiva will be going to a vet for the first time this trip to get checked out. I am doing this as a precautionary measure as we ready ourselves for remote and rugged high desert.
I would like to thank the Bakersfield Breakfast Rotary Club for inviting me to speak at their meeting. I look forward to keeping in touch. Here are a couple pictures from this morning's presentation:

I think spending the time with your dog and biking and hiking is wonderful. I love my dog and we have a good relationship but we prefer the back yard. No hiking stuff for us! We are way too lazy. I hope we continue to see your progress.

Good Luck Chiva and David. Sorry I missed you in Bakersfield, we love biking around here and always have sunny (if not extremely hot) weather to take advantage of the bike path and local trails.
