UPDATE, 22 October 2008

David and Chiva are taking a break from the Tour de Dog but are sure to plan another ride in the near future. A sincere thank you to all of you who helped David and Chiva in countless ways. The Tour de Dog would not be possible without your support. THANK YOU!

Tour de Dog Photo of the Day

An unwanted side effect from all the biking, hiking, camping and life on the road in general that comes with the Tour de Dog is weight loss. I weighed in at 190 lbs this morning...25 less than when I started. Chiva remains a steady 50 lbs. The Tour de Dog has presented me with by far and away the most difficult physical and mental challenges I have ever faced. If I drop below 175 lbs, I plan to stop wherever I am and bulk up for a couple of months.

When I reached Salt Lake City, I immediately devoured as much food as I could. The problem is my stomach is not use to this, and everything backfired. I literally made myself sick to my stomach and thus made everything worse. If I am going to have any chance in Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana, I must be gentle on my belly and constantly be eating smaller meals.

As the great statesman Winston Churchill once said: Never give up...never give up...never give up.

Thanks for stopping by my summitpost.org page. I love that site. So much great info there. I have been spreading the word wherever and whenever I can about your mission. My friends think it's a great cause. Keep up the good work and eat as often as you can.

keep up the good work. Try eating 4 lara bars an hour. If you drop to 180 i'll wire you some money earmarked for beer and cheese fries to help you bulk up.
