A Snapshot of Tour de Dog in Nebraska

Tour de Dog time in the Cornhusker state is winding down. Chiva and I will be crossing into Iowa today in order to make it in time for RAGBRAI. Before I say goodbye to Nebraska, I would like to post a few notes and pictures:

By the Numbers:

July 10th: Wyoming border to Harrison (9 miles)
July 11th: Harrison to Chadron (50 miles)
July 12th: Chadron to Rushville (30 miles)
July 13th: Rushville to Cody (70 miles)
July 14th: Cody to Valentine (37 miles)
July 15th: Valentine to Ainsworth (45 miles)
July 16th: Ainsworth to O'neill (65 miles)
July 17th: O'neill to Neligh (40 miles)
July 18th: Neligh to West Point (80 miles)
July 19th: West Point to Missouri Valley, Iowa (55 miles)
Total Miles: ~480

A few memories:

Extremely biker-friendly and welcoming people, lightning/rain/hail storms, biking at night with lightning all around, biking at night with the fireflies, sleeping in the Ainsworth Fire Hall during a big storm, visiting Grandma Sallie Sue's ranch, increasing humidity as we biked east, scenic bluffs covered with pine trees, endless golden brown prairies, giant agriculture equipment, bales of hay, camping in well-maintained city parks, the Chadron Fur Trade Festival, eating big breakfasts in cafes with ranchers, biking with Mike, Joe, and Jennifer of Springfield, Missouri, and pushing myself to get to RAGBRAI.

Hey David,

We still have your site listed on our website's blog: multisuetc.org . I have been following your adventure across the US. Really amazing stories and people. I checked out the WPS message board and found Mt Whitney had flash floods last weekend and the road was washed out. Glad we didn't pick that weekend to make the hike. Keep up the hard work.

hey dave,

talked to elizabeth. She's going to find a way to Astoria on her own it looks like. Anyways, hope things are going well at RIGBRAI.

Hey Dave -

Hope you're doing alright! Thanks for having your friend contact me. I just would have felt terrible having him go so far out of his way.

Give Chiva a pat on the head.

Cheers,

E and L
