Words of Wisdom

Over the last few days, I have been in Alabama discussing my adventure plans with my two loving grandmothers. Although it is doubtful they fully understand my desire to do the expedition, they wish me the best of luck and are extremely excited. They also offered invaluable, humorous, and heartfelt advice that I promised to remember:

  • Stay out of jail and have fun
  • Shave and keep you hair combed
  • Do not talk to suspicious people
  • Stay off the big highways
  • Be careful when Chiva is not on a leash...she might run away
  • Most importantly, be safe and if you are not having fun, stop and do something else

I look forward to returning to Alabama next winter to reunite with them. Best wishes to both of you my dear grandmothers! Love, David

Always listen to your grandmothers Dave! I don't wanna see photos of you with your hair all messed up and a three-day beard :)

I guess you're soon leaving. Unfortunately I will not be in Seattle until 16th April so I cannot give you a good-luck-hug but I'm thinking about the two of you and hope everything is gonna go well.
I'm looking forward to read your blog!
Lots of hugs from Anna

David,
The time has come! I can't wait to follow you through your website as you progress. I hope you take a small journal to write down some of your thoughts...and take lots of pictures.
The most important thing...take care of yourself and Chiva.
I hope to meet you in the southeast leg of your journey, if not before.
Best wishes!

Hi Dave -

When you make it to Massachusetts, give us a ring - you can stay with us or we can meet you out in the Berkshires. The highest peak in MA is Mount Greylock - very beautiful out there (and not too, too hard a climb).

Wishing you a fantastic experience,
Diane, Patrick & Baby Therese

Hey dave-

Any idea when you're going to be passing through Oregon? I might be able to grab a few days off to summit hood or hang out around Bend or Crater Lake if I have a heads up.

David I really admire your efforts to follow your dreams. More of us could learn alot from you. I wish you all the luck in the world on this journey you are about to take with Chiva.

I hope I get to visit with both of you when you come to Utah again.
