Once Chiva and I finished with RAGBRAI and Iowa, our next stop was America's third largest city, Chicago. Experienced touring cyclists Lonnie, TJ, and Jerry helped me plan a safe and scenic route across the ever so humid and stormy Prairie State and into Chicago. I hope to continue biking with these new great friends in the near future and there is talk of Maine to Key West.
When I biked into the city with Jerry, we were greeted by brother Rob, who had flown in from San Francisco to be with us. Two of my best college buddies, Alex and Maureen, also live in Chicago. Everyone has gone above and beyond to show Chiva and me a good time in the Windy City. A few highlights have been biking around the city, exploring the Lake Michigan beaches and dog parks, clubbing at night, going to two Cub's baseball game, taking an architecture cruise tour, visiting the Just Animals Shelter, kayaking with Chiva on the Chicago River, dining at nice restaurants, making new friends, working on my bicycle with Jerry, and having a roof over our heads during some monstrous storms. Thank you to all those who made Chicago such a wonderful visit!

Hi David & Chiva:
We met you, your mother and Chiva at Canyon in Yellowstone. You were trying to eat your lunch. You have a great blog and what an amazing trip. Keep it up!
We're currently in Hoback Jct.--just south of Jackson Hole, WY.

Also, David, how do you manage to get on the Internet when you're out in the middle of nowhere--especially to upload photos. We're in an RV and we have a hard time.
Your secret?

Hi David and Chiva! You both look like you're doing well. I hope you enjoy my home state, Illinois. I will be there in 9 weeks when I run the Chicago Marathon! Good thing you're not in Dallas right now with these triple digit heat days. We're sweltering. Take care.
